Upper Quadrant Extremities

The Upper Quadrant Extremities covers the cervical spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. The course is designed to provide Physical Therapists with clinical reasoning skills to diagnose select tissue dysfunction and peripheral joint pain. The course will teach clinicians to choose treatments based on evidence-based tests and measures. Participants will be taught numerous aspects of differential diagnosis of the upper quadrant. This will include medical conditions representing musculoskeletal pain and conditions that require immediate referral to a medical specialist. Common conditions such as neck pain with or without radiculopathy, articular/joint pain, and muscle tendinopathies will be discussed in detail. Clinicians will learn safe and effective manual and manipulative skills in the application of high velocity low amplitude thrust (HVLAT) and non-thrust mobilizations of the upper peripheral joints. Other orthopedic manual physical therapy procedures such as soft tissue techniques, neural tissue mobilization, and therapeutic exercise prescription will be covered in this comprehensive course. Course manual, materials, and Lunch/Snacks included.
